Honey Bees Short Life!

A Honey Bee works from the minute they grow from a cell to the minute they die. They have no time to rest in between! Their expected life span is approximately 28-35 days depending on the time of year. During the pollination (warm) season a bee works so hard that they tend to live the least amount of days! During the colder seasons the bees will go dormite and will live on the longer side of the expected life span.

A Queen bee will tend to live approximately 2 years. Now in our hives we raise, we “re-queen” once a year that way our hives never weaken! We strive to keep our hives healthy and plentiful.

More on the re-queening process in next blog! See you soon 🙂
